Spiritual Life Mission Trips
Winter Break 2019-2020, Hurricane Relief Mission Trip
During winter break 2019-2020, students engaged in a week of serving and rebuilding the North Carolina Beach area that was affected by Hurricane Matthew. Natural Disaster relief is often a slow building process and takes many years for it to be officially finished. The team worked with the United Methodist Committee on relief doing various construction projects to help rebuild homes of Hurricane Matthew victims.
Nursing GEL Trip to Brazil
The Global Experiential Learning trip takes students to the Amazon River in Brazil, where they sail on the John Wesley Medical Mission Boat, stopping at villages along the way to provide health care. Contact the Office of Spiritual Life for more information.
Medical Mission Trip to Nicaragua
During its annual trip to Leon, Nicaragua, the Shenandoah University Medical Mission Team has aided the impoverished families living in the spectacular mountain setting of Leon and Matagalpa. Graduate students in physician assistant studies and pharmacy serve in one of three rural clinics run by El Ayudante, a Christian mission organization. They gain clinical experience by providing medical care for people who would otherwise have none. They also make friends and learn about the root causes of poverty.
